Working with the Libelium Hilo Sagem shield

OK so I realize it has been sometime since I have posted to this blog, but hey, that's just the way it goes sometimes. I ran into a really thick wall that was difficult to get over. So I have been trying to get the shield to send an SMS message from the Cutecom interface but I haven't been successful. So I have been trying to flash the shield with the actual code that is available on the tut from
Libelium. So I have trying to figure out how to flash the board with out any success as previously stated. What the tut from Lubelium does not explain is that the ATMEGA chip needs to be in the Arduino board with the shield on top. I did try this one time before but I either had a bad board or chip (Arduino) but didn't realize it. Luckily we have extra boards hanging around. I did also had the board attached to a capacitor (uf 220) with out any power attached. I really don't think that made a difference for this step.
